Who says garden rooms are just for summer? Our garden rooms are built to stand the test of time and the whims of British weather. Insulated with top-tier materials like Rockwool and Kingspan and finished with durable cedar cladding, they promise warmth in winter and a cool retreat during summer.

This commitment to using high-quality materials ensures your space is not just comfortable but also energy-efficient and low-maintenance, allowing you to enjoy it year-round. Insulated Garden Rooms

When you choose a garden lodge from us you can be confident you’re investing in a space that’s built for year-round comfort. We achieve this through a multi-layered approach to insulation. 75mm acoustic rated Rockwool and 25mm sheet Kingspan are used in all walls and floors, while the roof is insulated with Kingspan Quadcore panels. This combination ensures that your garden room is well-protected from both cold and noise. Further enhancing the insulation, the lodges are wrapped in a clever waterproof yet breathable membrane. This innovative material allows natural moisture to escape, preventing any build-up inside, while simultaneously blocking external moisture from penetrating the structure. This means you can enjoy a perfectly dry and comfortable environment in any weather. The double-vented timber walls further aid in maintaining a comfortable temperature by facilitating excellent air circulation. With this meticulous attention to detail, the company guarantees a cosy retreat no matter the season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need planning permission for a garden room?

Garden rooms usually do not need planning permission as they are classed as outbuildings and fall under permitted development rights– All our garden rooms have been designed with this in mind. There are certain rules however that you need to adhere to, such as the maximum height cannot be above 2.5m and the garden room must not exceed 50% of the total area of land around the original house.

If you live in an Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, World Heritage Site or you require specific advice we would always encourage you to check with your local authority’s regulations, which are available through the Government Planning Portal website or contact your local planning authority.

How much does a garden room cost?

Our prices vary depending on the size and style you require. We use the same quality cladding and insulation for all our garden rooms and offer an array of additional features to help you personalise your space. To help you decide we recommend a site inspection from one of our expert joiners where we run through our finer details and spec. The quote you’ll get from any garden room supplier will be determined by lots of factors – including access to the site, available foundations, external cladding, additional decking, whether you need an electrical supply and so on.

What are the different types of garden rooms available?

In terms of shape and size, the options are pretty limitless (subject to any local planning restrictions!) and really most aspects are guided by your own needs. If you plan to use your garden room for hosting guests you might want to consider a canopy or concave style so you’re able to sit out on the decking and make the most of the outdoors. One of the most important things for most of our customers are aesthetics (after all, this is your garden).

  • Timber garden rooms: Offering a natural, traditional look with our Western Red Cedar or Thermowood cladding.
  • Composite garden rooms: Combining the benefits of wood and metal, this option is low maintenance, offers a balance of aesthetics and performance

How long does it take to install a garden room?

The installation depends on the size and complexity of the garden room. Our smaller cube models can be installed within a few days, while larger, bespoke garden rooms may take a couple of weeks. Other factors include our great friend the British weather, whether you have existing foundations, and if any additional extras are required such as internal stud walls, kitchen or bathroom fittings etc.

What about heating and insulating your garden room?

Proper insulation is crucial for a comfortable garden room year-round which is why we ensure our garden rooms all come standard with the best insulation. All walls and floor have 25mm Kingspan with 75mm of acoustic rated Rockwool not to mention the insulated Quadcore Kingspan roof panels. This is all finished off nicely with a plasterboard and professionally plastered finish. There are many ways to actively heat your office – from wall heaters to space heaters to simple hot air fans. We’re always happy to advise on what options might work best for you.

Are there other things to think about when choosing a garden room?

We understand that purchasing a garden room can be a big investment for most people which is why we provide a long term guarantee. Ensure when you are collecting quotes you consider company’s who provide some form of protection. All our garden rooms are built on site by fully qualified joiners with an abundance of experience, not only can we offer you the best advice and guidance but we also ensure all our garden rooms come with a solid 10 year structural guarantee to keep your mind at ease.

What foundations do you use for a garden room?

As standard we use a specially designed concrete pile and steel legs system for all our garden office foundations. We dig down into the ground, a galvanised steel bar and base plate is inserted into the excavated hole and then filled with concrete. These piles are spread evenly across the entire width and depth of the timber base. Not to worry, we can build on concrete slabs if you already have a base in place.

Do you require a deposit for the garden room?

Once you have decided on which garden room you would like along with any optional extras such as partitioned walls/ glass screens or internet connection we will liaise with you to confirm an installation date. Similar to the majority of garden rooms companies we do require a 25% deposit which is collected upon booking. Following completion of the garden office the remaining 75% will be due.
